There were times where I was just waiting around for factions deciding to help me take bases, I was on Duty and had to wipe out the army warehouses all by myself, but THAT was pretty fun. You gain money for territories captured/defended but it all feels kinda like a chore and there were times where I was spending more money on ammo then the money I actually earned. The questline ends once you 'destroy' the enemies base (basically kill everyone at said faction base). Bandits (in the Garbage)įreedom (in the army warehouses) V.S. Depending on what faction you join, you will be fighting for control over territory belonging to the enemy faction, the factions at war are:
These factions are both equally powerful, but I'm not sure how the game deals with you being attacked every time you try to get into Rostok (where most of the main missions are).Ĭlear Sky forces you to join the Clear Sky faction at the beginning of the game but once you get out of the swamps it lets you join 4 different factions. I did one or two missions for Duty on my first playthrough but didn't finish the questline. It also affects the ending depending on what you do (unless you get the 'good' ending where you talk to Doctor and do all those quests). Really the only thing this changes is makes the enemy faction enemies of the player (you), and some neat quests. Shadow of Chernobyl let's you assist either Freedom or Duty in a war against the other.
